Command 7

Command 7 is a 1999 Chevrolet Tahoe LT used as our Duty Vehicle. It is primarily driven by our Duty Chief but our Junior Officers get to drive through our Duty Officer program. It is outfitted with a low-band mobile, high-band mobile, and an MT1000 convert-a-com upfront, an MT1000 converta-a-com in the rear, along with a remote mic and speaker for the front mounted low-band mobile.

The rear cargo area contains an Odyssey Command console with 3 compartments, a pull-out file drawer and a pull-out command board. Also in the rear is an MSA Firehawk air pack, Streamlight Vulcan hand light, a haligan bar and an "O" tool.

The resources carried include a Lancaster County Map book, a first-due preplan book, 2004 ERG for hazardous materials, mutual aid pre-plan books and miscellaneous forms to aid the command officer.

Emergency lighting includes a Federal Signal Vista bar, and corner strobes all around. The siren is a Federal Signal SM2000 Smart siren with lighting and arrow stick control.

We also recently placed in service a Mobile Vehicular Repeater system by Pyramid Communications.  This system allows us to use UHF portable radios to interface with our current Low-band Radio system.  This means we will have greater in-building communication coverage and also allows us to communicate between crew members without using the already limited legacy channels.  In essence it is like having a 110W portable radio in your hand.
